Thanks Doug - 25's are excellant traingin for Olymic distance tri's to help you hone that bike leg.
Calling that course sporting has made my day - Of course as we all know all Kent Courses are much slower than anywhere else and my PB's would be much lower if I lived somewhere else |

| In 1993 Graham Obree came down from Scotland and rode the Gravesend '10' on a Saturday afternoon on the Thanet Way. He won and set a new National Record in 18-27. On the Sunday morning also on the Thanet Way he won the National Championship '50' and set another National Record in 1-39-01. He never went quicker anywhere else. In both those events local riders performed to their norm. They seemingly needed to go the out of County to get their PB's. I was no exception in the 1970's. Maybe it is all in the mind, for Obree showed us all that not only could PB's be set on sporting Kent courses but National Records were possible too. Look forward to seeing some Deal Tri Club entries on 13th May. Seem to recall having a couple enter last year. |

Thanet Way..a sporting course? There are cyclists, and there are others. Obree was definitely, an other.

Don't forget the Weatabix Rich!
I think I did the 25 last year - it was probably the one where I sat up and shouted my number at a random car a layby to soon. |

| Tim, You had a lonely ride. If you enter again I will give you a later start. A 1-00-53 and you certainly had me shifting round the course. In a car I might add. Only just got the risk assessment signs in place before you shot through. You would have been kicking yourself if you had been closer to going under. I will look out for rogue cars near finish this year. May have been a riders supporter. If so, then most inconsiderate. It is of course a chequered board you should be looking for. Cheers, Doug. |

It must have been the 2nd ride I did on the course where I sat up early as it meant I miss out by 10 seconds on the sub hour. It was all Kevin Tyes fault he overtook me and then sat up at the wrong layby and seeing that he is a far better rider than me I copied him!
Unfortunately I think i am doing a Tri on that day as I need revenge and a sub hour time on that course. I am almost thinking of trying to bribe the council to put down some smoother tarmac in places just to make it faster. |

Anyone not doing The East Grinstead Triathlon may like to join me for this one on the 13th May.
This can be a fast course and you are gifted with the first mile or so fast downhill to set you up for the ride. Also it is a very social 07:00 start!
Anyone not sure of either their Age Group Standard (Over 40's only!!!) or need help filling in the official entry form please contact either Peter Matcham or me for help and advice. The form can be downloaded from the CTT website at this link:
http://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/forms/CTTEntryFormFrontOnly.doc
Please do not forget that you will need to enter this race (or any other Open Cycle TT) at least 2 weeks before race day. _________________ Still waiting for the great leap forwards! |

There is still time to enter this popular event. Closing date is 1st May but may hold open for a few days after. Unless of course I get that magic full field of 120. Now wouldn't that be nice to celebrate my 25th consecutive year of promoting this event. Doug. |

| Gary, Blimey that East Grinstead Triathlon must be some event. Almost 600 reads of the Bill Philbrook Mem '25' topic and only your own entry received. Although the closing date for entries has now passed i am holding open until Saturday latest in the hope a few more may come in from wherever. Late entries must phone me to warn of that they are in the post. Doug. |
